He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hietpas and Lillian Hietpas (Schmidt); and his daughter Sarah Hietpas. He is survived by: his wife Carol Dufrane; his sons, Steve "Moe" Hietpas (Judy), Daniel Hietpas (Connie) and Tim "Tubby" Hietpas (Tanya Rae); his grandchildren, Ben (Ashley), Nick, Heather, Brandon, Alex (Alyssa), Alyssa Hietpas, Breanna and Connor Lamers; his great grandchild Sam Vanderloop; his brothers, Tony Hietpas (Betty), Dick Hietpas (Kathy) and Ron Hietpas (Jan); and also, Aggie, Delores and Sonny. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Lyle's name.
