Kenneth Paul Mayber Obituary
Of Lannon, WI. Formerly of Crystal Lake, Woodstock and Wonder Lake, IL. Passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the age of 67. Beloved husband of Kathleen (nee McCarthy). Loving father of the late Melissa Mayber, Rebecca Mayber (Nathan Lehocky) and Adam Mayber (Kayleigh Keefover). Cherished brother of Susan Jarrett. Dear brother-in-law of Charles McCarthy Jr., Michael (Joanne) McCarthy Thomas (Kim) McCarthy and the late Daniel McCarthy. Ken is preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Barbara (nee Gittelson) Mayber and parents-in-law Charles Sr. and Diane McCarthy. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ken started swimming at a very young age and ended up swimming for a time while attending college at the University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana where he majored in Business. He was a lifelong member of the fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi. He spent most of his working years in the food industry as a business and sales analyst. Together he and Kathleen raised 3 beautiful children that turned into even more beautiful adults. His children were always the apple of his eye and he had great difficulty in disciplining them as he was a "softie". He sacrificed a lot in order for Kathleen to be home with the children while they were young, often missing important milestones, their sporting events, parent-teacher conferences, and family game nights at home along with way too many meals at home to count.
Ken never let his diagnosis of ALS and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) drag him down and was always optimistic that he might recover until the last 2 weeks of his life. Ken always managed a smile even if the news was less than pleasant and always put a positive spin on everything. He will be sorely missed with every fiber of our being.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 1PM until time of Memorial Service at 4PM at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home; N84 W17937 Menomonee Ave, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ken's name to ALS Association of Wisconsin (https://secure2.convio.net) are greatly appreciated.
