He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Topel and Mabel Topel (Strauss); his brothers, Cliff Topel, Wilbur Topel (Florence), Lynn Topel and Harvey Topel (Patricia); and his sister-in-law Jackie Topel.
He is survived by: his wife Delores Kraus; his children, Trudy Topel and Scott Topel; his grandsons, Sean Topel and Shea Topel; his siblings, David Topel (Jay-Lin) of Ames, IA and Ellen White (Gerald) of Waukesha; and his sisters-in-law, Delores Topel of Lake Mills and Violet Topel of Lake Mills. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
