He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Peterson and Fern Peterson (Swartout); his sisters, Judy Lauer, Shirley Fuchs and Nancy Peterson; his son Daniel Peterson; and his great grandchild Zander Haas.
He is survived by: his wife Teresa Schumann Westphal; his children, Debbie Peterson (Leroy Elliott) of DeForest, Jason Westphal (Maria) of Burlington, Kevin Peterson (Megan Czjakowski) of Burlington and Mark Peterson (Bridget) of New Berlin; his daughter-in-law Amy Peterson of Pardeeville; his grandchildren, Eric Gust (Desiree Bishop), Rachel Ballweg (Keith), Jennifer Haas (Aaron), Jaina, Jameson Westphal, Milee Czjakowski, Mattie, Mabel Peterson and Jack Peterson; his great grandchildren, Anastasia, Katerina, Sienna Gust, Bryce, Brooke Ballweg and Savanna Haas; and his sister Susan Tanda (Dave).
In remembrance of John's life, any memorials may be made out to the family to be given to his favorite charities.
