She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Tyree H. Thompson and Louise Means Thompson; her sister Gwendolyn; her former husband McKinley E. Owens, Jr. of North Chicago, IL; her daughter Kenya Carolyn Owens (Peter Fonk); her husband Melvin R. Phillips; her children, Romero R. Buggs, Jr., Cynthia L. Buggs, Ericka L. Moses and Romond Buggs; her grandchildren, Kayla Peterson-Steele (Marcel, Sr.), Kiera Peterson, Kassidy Owens, Mahommed Moses, Pharoh Reich, Razan Moses and Haden Reich; her great grandchildren, Tahir Peterson and Marcel Steele, Jr.; her brothers, Philip Wayne Lanton and Mickey Lanton; and her aunt Carmen Patton. She was also cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
