He was predeceased by: his parents, June Thayer (Waddell) and Robert Fredrick Thayer; his brother Richard Thayer; his uncles, Floyd Waddell and John Waddell; and his close friend Patricia Hughes.
He is survived by: his former wife Patricia Erickson; his daughters, Lisa Thayer, Angie Olson (Ross) and Ashley Schlafer (Lucas); his grandchildren, Justin Nagle, Kala Oelfke (Kyle), Dane Armstrong, Chloe Armstrong, Brandon Olson, Trevor Olson, Ashton Olson, Dawson Schlafer, Harper Knutson and Daisy Schlafer; his great grandchildren, Aaden Oelfke, Gracie Oelfke, Jaiven Oelfke, Piper Oelfke and Bentley Oelfke; his brothers, Robert Thayer Jr. and Danny Thayer; and his friend Dennis Kellar.
