He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Quentin, Nelda Sweeney (Wendland), Tilford Thompson and Loretta Thompson Blank (Tostrud); his stepgrandfathers, Bernard Blank and LeRoy Veglan; his nieces, Mina and Eva Twedt; his nephew James; and his aunts and uncles, Joann (Eddie), Hamlin, Beverly (Eugene Donaldson) and Steven Thompson.
He is survived by: his parents, Michael Sweeney (Jan Powell) and Rev. Jeanette Thompson Thorp (Dennis); his children, Madeline and John Sweeney; his sister Amilyn Twedt (Robert); his nephews, Kevin and Kenny Twedt; and his significant other Jolene Doering. He is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be placed into a bank account for the Phil Foundation to support youth bowlers to afford equipment and tournament fees.
