He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Tessen and Emma Tessen (Gorges); his wife Lois Westphal; his brothers, Lee Tessen (Rita) and Harold Tessen; and his siblings-in-law, Lorettta Schoessel and Rev. Leroy Westphal.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Tessen (Sandy) of Neenah, Gary Tessen (Linda) of Kaukauna, Doug Tessen (Vicki) of Kimberly, Jeff Tessen (Janet) of Kimberly and Debbie Tessen (Kris) of Menasha; and his siblings-in-law, Melvin Westphal (Esther), Carl Schoessel, Carol Westphal, Paul Rittmueller (Rhoda) and Dick Pillsbury (Sue). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
