He was predeceased by: his parents, Mathew and Olive Winkel Sr. (Roeder); his wife Berniece E. Suess; his siblings, Earl Winkel, Robert Winkel (Kathleen) and Louise Schmitz; his brothers-in-law, Jim Penkwitz and Leander Wawers; and his nephew Terry Wawers (Mary).
He is survived by: his children, Mark Winkel (Kim), David Winkel (Sherry), Julie Schoenborn (Dave), Dean Winkel (Sandra), Elkhart Lake and Jane Morgen (Gary); his grandchildren, Michelle Hansen (Brad), Matt Winkel (Natasha), Amanda Hall, James Hall Jr. (Marlee), Stephanie Walter (Josh), Kelly, Jacob Winkel (Valerie), Abigail Schoenborn (Curt), Elizabeth Schoenborn (Cory), Adam Schoenborn (Jessica), Calvin, Sara Winkel, Allie Kemper (Casey) and Austin Morgen; and his sister Lois Penkwitz. He is also survived by 9 Great Grandchildren.
