He was predeceased by : his parents, Dalhart "Dally" Freis and Judith Freis (Rosenthal); and his sister Vicky. He is survived by : his wife Rhonda Winkler; his stepchildren, Jerid Winkler (Patty), Katie Wyrobeck (Steve), Daniel Winkler and Tim Schaefer (Tara); his stepgrandchildren, AJ, Griffin, Hailyana, Urban, Zachary, Payten and Tayler; his sister Tammy Freis; and also Jory Rule.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home (815 6th St, Kiel, WI 53042). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
