She was predeceased by: her parents, Stephen Medvecz and Ethel Medvecz (Tatoi); her husband James P. Mertens; her siblings, James Medvecz, Mike Medvecz, Steven Medvecz (Violet), Joseph Medvecz and Ethel Medvic (Andrew); her son-in-law John Marren; and her grandson Benjamin Balgord.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Marren of Chicago, Darlene Balgord (Gary) of Madison, Joseph Mertens (Kelly) of Kiel, Steven Mertens (Terri) of Berthoud and Anthony Mertens (Wendy) of New Holstein; her grandchildren, Mary Eileen Marren, Brian Marren (McKayle), J. J. Marren (Lauren Orth), Sarah Balgord-Stran (Matt), Elizabeth Balgord-Colburn (Cameron Colburn), Megan Balgord, Joshua Mertens (Jessica), Jacob Mertens, Jolene Blankenship (Sam) and David Mertens; her great grandchildren, Harper Roy, Max Marren, Jackson Mertens, Juliana Mertens, Jonathon Mertens, Jaden Mertens, Cora Balgord, Beckett Balgord, Charlotte Stran, Winona Stran, Elizabeth Blankenship and Willow Blankenship; and her sister-in-law Agnes Medvecz.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Peter & Paul Catholic Church (413 Fremont St, Kiel, WI 53042). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
