He was predeceased by: his parent Glen Sauer; his granddaughter Lucillia; and his grandparents, Frank Griepentrog, Phyllis Griepentrog and Cora Sauer.
He is survived by: his parent Nancy Sauer; his wife Sheila; his children, Adam Sauer (Lyda) and Kayla Dauphinais (Scott); his grandchildren, Brynn, Abram, Quentin and William; his brothers, Jed Sauer (Laura) and Tod Sauer (Barbara); and also, Barbara Hubatch (Jack), Deborah Randall (Gregg), Timothy Carberry (Sandy), Cynthia Robb (Greg), Judith Tetzlaff (Jeffrey), Donna Goetsch (Chuck), James Carberry (Renee) and Joel Carberry (Kristine). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
