He was predeceased by: his father Raymond Mertzig. He is survived by: his wife Tina Mertzig; his children, Faith Mertzig and Raymond Mertzig; his sister Rhonda Zimdahl (Timothy); his brothers-in-law, Brian Spartz (Kim) and Nicholas Spartz (Dawn); his parents-in-law, Thomas and Janet Spartz; and his nieces and nephews, Sarah Peterson (Erik), Wendy Jaeger (Jereme), Angel Hoban (Terry), Olivia Spartz, Grace Spartz, Emma Spartz, Owen Spartz and Caelen Spartz. He is also survived by numerous relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name to the KEYS, Kewaskum Youth Scholarship Inc, or to the Kewaskum Historical Society are appreciated by the family.
