He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Bruin and Laura De Bruin (Boser); his siblings, Donald (Maryanne), Toby (Pat), Dorothy Hawley, Lloyd, Harry, John and Lee De Bruin; his half-siblings, Melvin DeBruin (Virgie), Clara Simon (Roman), Genevieve Van Schyndel (Henry) and Evelyn Van Schyndel (Martin); his brothers-in-law, Casey Van Cuyk, Jim Menting and Glenn Wierschke; and also Emmett Wierschke (Clara Schwalenberg).
He is survived by: his wife Janice De Bruin; his grandchildren, Kathy Kasper (Steve), Charles Jr. Kasper and LaKisha Jackson-Kasper; his children, Lori Dunphy (Steve), Jody Dunphy (Bob Frankel), Steve De Bruin, Tyler De Bruin (Kaitlin), Ashley Nackers (Cory), Mitchell De Bruin, Brian De Bruin (Denise), Katie De Bruin, Amanda De Bruin, Debbie De Bruin (Pete Swiggum), Brett Backhaus, Brady Backhaus, Diane Handrich (Dan), Andrew Handrich (Megan Krajewski) and Brittany Handrich; his great grandchildren, Kaliyah Stewart, Beverly Dunphy Frankel, Emma, Gavin and Elise Nackers; his siblings, Gordon De Bruin, Elaine Van Cuyk, Judy Menting and Vic De Bruin (Jean); and his siblings-in-law, Juanita De Bruin, Carol De Bruin, Barbara Van De (Don) and Dan Wierschke (Mary Ann). He is also survived by eight godchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
