He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Novak and Jane Novak (Arndofer); his siblings-in-law, Cheryl Novak and Paul Rochon; his niece Amy Rochon; and also, Harry and Delia Van Roy.

He is survived by: his wife Diane Novak; his son Nathan Novak (Melissa); his stepchildren, Amy Ulrich (Ryun), Sara Wittman (Brandon) and Timothy Lettau; his grandchildren, Lexi, Haylie, Nick, Reed, Ethan and Eric; his siblings, Virginia Rochon, Tom Novak (Mary) and John Novak; and also, Ron Van Roy (Linda), Jack Van Roy (Joan), Rog Van Roy, Carol Van Stippen (Jim), Jim Van Roy (Sharon), Denis Van Roy (Jeanie), Don Van Roy (Kris), Jo Wyngard (Jeff) and Rick Van Roy (Amy).

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established with the American Lung Association.
