He was predeceased by: his parents, William Berdt and Perle Berdt (Harris); his spouse Jean Spink; his brother-in-law Russell Gausman; his brother Earl "Sonny" Brey; and his stepmother Delores "Dee" Berdt.

He is survived by: his daughters, Mary Ostrander, Linda Glendon (Jeff) and Elizabeth Brey; his grandchildren, Leslie Brey Johnson (Ryan), Leah Brey Fratzke (Jon), Morgan Ostrander, Melissa and Rebecca Glendon; his great grandchildren, Zoey Flood, Jenna Flood, Evan Fratzke, Keira Johnson, Ava Johnson, Evelyn Ostrander and Ethan Ostrander; his sisters, Jean Gausman and Carol Buswell (Jay); and his sister-in-law Nancy Brey. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
