It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Elsie May Van Tassell (Janesville, Wisconsin), who passed away on March 24, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Phillips and Emily Phillips (Green); and her husband Oliver R. Van Tassell. She is survived by: her children, Jeanene Welker (Jim) and David Van Tassell (Melissa); her grandchildren, Carol Edwards (Lee), Jonathan Van Tassell (Shelly), Alexis Lepperd (Bill Winter), Daniel Van Tassell (Rachael Wilbur) and Gregory Van Tassell (Erin); her great grandchildren, Allison, Lisa, Ethan, Jared, Paige, William and Lillian Mae; her great great grandchildren, Evangeline and Vincent; and her nephews, Douglas Phillips (Marion) and Basil Philips. She is also survived by cats, Auntie.

Because of her love of animals and the theater, the family requests that memorials be directed to animal welfare organizations or to Janesville Little Theater in her memory.
