He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Carlson and Celestine Carlson. He is survived by: his wife Midge; his children, Shawn Carlson (Brenda), Christopher Carlson (Suzi), Karin Schroeder (Todd) and Eric Carlson; his grandchildren, Kristen, Dillon, Jacob, Nathan, Hanna and Lydia; and his siblings, Judy Widmyer (Jim), Sally Bancroft (Greg), Steven Carlson (Sue), Nancy Carlson (Andy Murphy) and Wendy Dunn (Larry). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer Foundation.
