He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Gietzel and Eleanora Gietzel (Drews); his stepfather Gustav Schwartz; and also, Ervin Gietzel, Merlin Gietzel, Hilbert Gietzel, Oscar Schwartz, Elmay Mercier, Wilbur Schwartz, Bernice Wagener, Pearl Muenchow and Eleanor Schwarze.

He is survived by: his spouse June Vellema; and his brother-in-law Lloyd Wagener. He is also survived by his other relatives and friends.
