With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Laurie Hovell (Holmen, Wisconsin), born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, who passed away on December 27, 2022. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Bockenhauer and Viola Bockenhauer; her husband Robert Ray Hovell (Bob); her siblings, Barb Hovell (Clyde), Earl Bockenhauer (Fran), Donna Drugan (Kent) and Glen Bockenhauer; her siblings-in-law, Clyde, Kenneth Hovell, Russell Gilbertson, LaVerne Dettinger, Judy Bockenhauer, Lorna Gilbertson and Pat Kamrowski (Donnie); her nephew Clyde Jon Hovell; her niece Tammi Drugan Bratberg (Alan); and her grandson Larry Robert Ray Sacia.
She is survived by: her offsprings, Debra Jean Sacia (Larry), Pamela Kay Grover (Steve) and Laurie Lynn McMillin (T. S.); her siblings, Sandy Raymond (Tony), Bill Bockenhauer (Judy) and Doug Bockenhauer (Solveig); her grandchildren, Lynn Sacia, Amanda Hovell, Sarah Sagler (Justin), Liam McMillin and Jack McMillin; her stepgrandchildren, Samantha, Stephen and Rob Grover; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Lilah and Stevie Grover; and her siblings-in-law, Darlene Dettinger (LaVerne), Fran Bockenhauer (Ralph Perry) and Kent Drugan.
A talented knitter, Laurie spun out intricate lace tablecloths, bedspreads, and doilies for which she was awarded first place and best in show multiple times at both the county and state levels; she knitted sweaters for her family, numerous baby sweaters and blankets, countless dishrags, and dozens of toy bears, which were donated for children seeking medical treatment in Latin America and southern Africa.
