He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick and Bessie; his siblings, Mary Bates and Henry Schafer; and his close friend Buster.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his children, Gary Spangler (Barb), Laurie Gappa (Ben), Roger Spangler (Dreama) and Natalie Caulum (Brian); his grandchildren, Melissa, Philip, Matthew, Steven, Kim, Garrett and Caden; and his great grandchildren, Oliver and Trenton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
