He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Sweeney and Velma Sweeney (Lyne); his parents-in-law, James and Evelyn Knadle (Rankins); his brother-in-law James J. Knadle; and his son Timothy Sweeney.
He is survived by: his children, Patrick Sweeney (Mary), Michael Sweeney (Robin), Teresa Anderson (Steve), Benjamin Sweeney (Bunny), Daniel Sweeney (Kandie) and Richard Sweeney II; his sister-in-law Maggie Knadle; and his daughter-in-law Jane Sweeney. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren.
