He was predeceased by: his parents, Bearl Wanless and Ruth Wanless (Chitwood); and his siblings, Gerald, Gordon, Gale, Eathel, Evelyn and Elaine.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Resac; his children, Beth Thayer (Ashley) of Hillsboro and Ethan Wanless (Alex) of Eagan, Minnesota; and his grandchildren, Leah, Evan and Nico. He is also survived by friends, spending time with his grandchildren.
