He was predeceased by: his parents, August Thor and Hilda Thor (Schroeder); his siblings, Walter Thor (Marion), Ivyl Brand (Andrew), Quentin Thor (Betty), Annabel Wilberding (Kenneth), Clair Kunkel (Ruth), Elmer Kunkel (Sally), Rita Neuses (Clem), Duane Kunkel (Malinda), Mary Wiederholt (Charlie) and John Kunkel (Marna); his nieces, Linda Pape, Shirley, Pat Jerrett and Mary Ann Troy; and his nephew Gerry Neuses.
He is survived by: his children, Randy Thor (Kathie), Debbie Brannon (Andy), La Crosse, Audrey Kress (Pat), Bettendorf, Lois Herbst (Greg) and Pam Moore (Charles); his grandchildren, Alison Kagan (Bobby), Megan Schiffer (Tom), Elizabeth, Maria, Matthew, Patrick Brannon, Tyler Kress (Stacey), Trenton, Austin Kress, Emily Miller (Matt), Ashley Herbst, Hannah Thumser (Aiden), Madison and Olivia Moore; and his great grandchildren, Katelynn, Connor Kagan, Evelyn Kress and Leo Schiffer. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of plants and flowers a Stanley Philip Thor Memorial Fund has been established.
