He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Schmock and Florence Schmock (Ishem); his brother Charlie; his brother-in-law Leonard Johnson; his nephew Gary Johnson; his great-nephew Zachary Johnson; and his great grandchildren, Preston and Dustin Thayer.
He is survived by: his children, Melissa Smith (Chad) of Peru, IN and Howard Schmock (Leann) of Trego, WI; his siblings, Darlene Johnson (Hayward) and George Schmock (Shirley) of Staunton, VA; and his grandchildren, Shawn Hopwood (Tiffany), Kiely Wilson (Josh), Gordon Root, Lucas Nethercutt (Jaryn), Kyra Schmock, Allee Nethercutt, Larissa Schmock, Mcale White (Shaq), Teagan Schmock, Lilli Nethercutt and Gavin Nethercutt. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, four nephews and three nieces.
