He was predeceased by: his parents, Gloria E. Hilgendorf and Roland V. Hilgendorf; and his father-in-law Earl Gresen. He is survived by: his wife Sue A. Gresen; his children, Heather Korpela (Mark) and Jason Hilgendorf; his grandchildren, Aubrey, Harper, Keston and Karsten; his siblings, Kevin Hilgendorf (Bruce Ewen), Kirk Hilgendorf (Kathy) and Kristine Mladucky (John); his stepmother Audrey Hilgendorf; his mother-in-law Audrey Gresen; and his brothers-in-law, Michael Gresen (Sue Schuelke) and Mark Gresen (Louise). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
