He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Speener and Jennette Speener; his daughter Vanessa Speener; his parents-in-law, Alvin and Charlotte Haugen; and his brothers-in-law, Tom Derks and Laurie Isaacson.

He is survived by: his wife Arlyss Speener; his children, Michelle Kornitz, Charlotte Speener, Fred Speener and Alex Speener; his grandchildren, Avery Kornitz (Lila Johnson), Morgan Kornitz and Samantha Speener; his great grandchild Norah Kornitz; his sisters, Sandra Derks, Becky Hengel (John) and Linda Lohr (Chuck); and his siblings-in-law, Judy Isaacson, Ronnie Haugen (Sharon), Bernie Haugen (Jean) and Tom Putnam (Jane). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
