He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his children, Michael Schmit (Brigitte), Nicholas Schmit (Katelin), Jessica Schmit and Abigail Schmit; his grandchildren, Alaina, Benjamin, Lillian and Rosalie; and his siblings, Kimberly Schopen and Jeffery Schmit. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
