He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy M. Schlafer and Wesley E. Schlafer; his father-in-law Gilbert Krapfl; his brother Ron Schlafer; and his nephew Ben Henning.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah L. Pitsch; his children, Patricia Bruckbauer (Adam), Marie Taylor and Arthur Schlafer (Ricky Santos); his grandchildren, Elliott, Max, Kenley Bruckbauer and Alex Taylor; his siblings, Ralph Schlafer, Darlene Pillsbury (Joe), Jeanette Rehlinger (John), Geraldine Martin (Dale), Beverly Von Rueden (Jim) and Lois Henning; his mother-in-law Lucille Krapfl; his siblings-in-law, Betty Jane Schlafer, Linda Herrick (Joe), Brian Pitsch (Susie), Sandy Pitsch and David Schramm; and his nephew Brian Schlafer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
