He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Bartels and Margaret Bartels; and his sister Mary Wegner. He is survived by: his spouse Anne Bartels; his children, Kristin Koziczkowski (Adam), Robert Bartels (Sabrina), Steven Bartels (Megan) and Gregory Bartels (Anastasia); and his siblings, John Bartels (Diane) and Daniel Bartels (Rachell).

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Lumen Christi Ministry or National MS Society. "We Love You!".
