He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ertmer and Mary Ertmer (Hennessey). He is survived by: his brother Timothy Ertmer (Jodi); his uncle Jim Ertmer; his aunts, Sue Ertmer and Rita Stadler; and his nephew Samuel Ertmer.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St Vincent's Catholic Church (1225 Oregon St, Oshkosh, WI 54902). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 at 12:00 PM at the St. Jude Parish-St. Vincent (1225 Oregon St, Oshkosh, WI 54902).

“I am so sorry to learn of Mike's passing. Mike and I worked together in supporting establishment of the US Army's Artificial Intelligence Center in Pittsburgh. When that work ended, we stayed in contact, and we connected when I would come back to Pittsburgh for family, or Mike would come to the DC area. I always enjoyed Mike's company, and appreciated his interest in helping others. He always focused on what he could do for others, and was excited to be near family in WI and his new home.”
