He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmons Schmit and Florence Schmit (Schwenner); his brother Gerald Schmit; and his sister-in-law Ellen Bednarek. He is survived by: his wife Catherine Schmit of Green Lake; his children, Joshua Sondalle (Kay Engelbrecht) of Ripon, WI, Erin Ballard (Joshua) of Waunakee, WI, Cameron Schmit (Sade) of Green Lake and Megan Harper of Westminster, CO; his grandchildren, Alia Sondalle, Mason Ballard, Keagan Ballard and Isabel Ballard; his siblings, Jeanne Bichler (David), Joyce Damerow (Dennis), Joanne Laper, John Schmit (Patti), Jackie Lucas (Jeff) and Jeffrey Schmit (Carie); and his sister-in-law Diane Schmit. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
