Ronald Joseph Spasaro Obituary
Ronald Joseph Spasaro, 79, of Grafton died peacefully but quite unexpected on July 7th from complications of the severe pancreatitis condition he suffered on June 16.
Ron is survived by his wife Dr. Wendy Freitag, daughter Sharon (Michael) Thelen of Saukville WI, and son Anthony (Jill) Spasaro of SD. 'Grandpa Ronnie' was the proud grandfather of Jennifer (Jai) Hyler, Kaylee (Lawrence) Senft, Jacob (Bailey) Spasaro and Emma Spasaro. As the cycle of life would have it, he was blessed with a great grandson Lawsen Senft two weeks ago. He is also survived by his brother John (Lora) of Milwaukee and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Josephine (Picciurro) Spasaro.
Ron worked as the beverage manager in private and country clubs in the greater Milwaukee area for many years. In his retirement he loved cooking for Wendy, going out to eat with his daughter and granddaughters and spending time with his brother. Ron was a huge sports fan, loved watching Westerns, reading, and smoking cigars on the deck watching the river flow. Ron was a very devoted husband. His quiet and ever-present support of Wendy and her life's work and passion for EMDR therapy will be forever remembered with love and deep gratitude. He was definitely her Hero and the "wind beneath her wings.". Now instead of the wind, he has become the family's guardian angel. Ron will be deeply missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the EMDR Research Foundation at emdrresearchfoundation.org are appreciated.
The family has heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at the Grafton Aurora Medical Center. The doctor, nurses and unit staff did their best, and at times went above and beyond to save his life and keep him comfortable. They were wonderfully supportive of the family as well.
Visitation will be on Tuesday July 12, at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Mequon, WI from 4:00PM to the start of the Celebration of Life Service at 5:30PM. Refreshments and fellowship to follow.
Hero (Wind Beneath My Wings) It must have been cold there in my shadow To never have sunlight on your face You been content to let me shine You always walked a step behind I was the one with all the glory While you were the one with all the strength Only a face without a name I never once heard you complain Did you ever know that you're my hero.
