He was predeceased by: his wife Dottie; and his granddaughter Molly. He is survived by: his sons, James Shappell (Lucy Lennox) of Chevy Chase, MD and David Shappell (Marilyn Mortell) of Chicago, IL; his grandsons, James Andrew, Ben and Sam; his great grandchild Adalina Grace Shappell; his nieces, Cheryl Ridarick McCann (John) of Easton, PA and Donna Ridarick Foulk (late Barry) of Brodheadsville, PA; and his great-nephews, Ryan and Seth McCann.
