Karen B. Roskopf Obituary
Roskopf, Karen B.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Karen (nee Schaetzel) Roskopf. Surrounded by her loving husband and family, she passed peacefully into God's hands at the age of 83 on February 11, 2025. Karen was born to Edith M. and Harold Schaetzel in Germantown, WI, on November 13, 1941. Karen had the joy of growing up with two wonderful brothers. As children they would spend weekends at the family cabin on Birch Lake. In her youth, Karen found a passion for music and spent countless hours perfecting her skills on the organ. Karen met the love of her life, Kenneth Roskopf, in high school where their friendship would eventually blossom into marriage on October 13, 1962. During their 62 years together, they would find themselves settling in Germantown where they raised two children, Rodney and Timothy. As avid travelers, they saw it all, from the Seven Seas to the bright lights of Vegas and especially loved the journeys to the same parts of Northern Wisconsin where Karen visited in her youth. Back in Germantown, Karen loved watching her family drive the fire trucks in the local parades every year. Never one to slow down, Karen enjoyed working at B.C. Zeigler, Horizon's Art, and Shelley's Hallmark Shop. In her free time, she played cards with her club or collected antiques. A devout Christian, Karen shared her talent as the organist for St. John United Church of Christ for over half a century, from 1966 until she retired in 2023. She also enjoyed planning the craft fair there every year. As a loving grandmother she rarely missed sporting events, graduations, band performances, cattle showings, weddings and various other gatherings. Karen was preceded in death by parents Edith M. and Harold Schaetzel. Karen is survived by her husband, Kenneth, her brothers Kenneth (Joan) and John (Shelia) Schaetzel, her sons, Rodney (Sue) Roskopf and Timothy Roskopf, her grandchildren, Jonathan (Rhianna) Roskopf, Jason Roskopf, Abby (Isaac) Daniel, Jacob (Kaitlyn) Roskopf, Rachel Roskopf, and Leah Roskopf and by three great-grandchildren, Holden Roskopf, Parker Roskopf and Wylen Daniel. She will be greatly missed, and her music will play in our hearts forever. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday February 20, 2025 at St. John United Church of Christ, N104 W14181 Donges Bay Rd. in Germantown, from 10am until time of memorial service at Noon. Burial to follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John United Church of Christ or St. John Cemetery Association would be greatly appreciated.
