He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Aloysius and Margaret Zahnle (Sullivan); and his siblings, Carol Zahnle and Martin Zahnle. He is survived by: his children, Daniel Zahnle (Shannon), Kelly Zahnle (Dave Kamholtz) and Edward Zahnle; his grandchildren, Joshua Goldberg, Tony Zahnle, Caitlin Fuentes (Mike), Joey Harris, Mackayla Harris and David Zahnle; and his siblings, Richard Zahnle (Sharon) and Maurine Ugolini (Dominic).

Memorial donations in Daniel's name can be made to the Illinois Railway Museum, P.O. Box 427, Union, IL 60180.
