He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Applin and Mary Applin (Possanza); his grandchildren, Nicole and Chris King; his siblings, Jay Lee Applin and Glennys Pazniak; and his half-sister Corrine Pasquali.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia; his children, Jill Des Jarlais (Byron), Jacqueline Herdandez (Luis) and James Applin (Janet); his grandchildren, Delany, Tori, Chloe Applin, Stefen, Kori, Nik King, Ben Des Jarlais, Suzi and Mari Hernandez; and his half-sister Gertrude Amelio (Tootsie). He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
