She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam Katsma and Mary Katsma (Kuik); her husband William Vander Galien; and her siblings, Gertie Slager (George), Jennie Westra (Hank), Elsie Winkel (Sam), Dorothy Leystra (Frank), Katie Boorsma (Tony), Ann Kooima, Ted Katsma, Gerald Katsma (Pauline), Clarence Katsma (Gertie) and Dewey Katsma (Vernette).
She is survived by: her children, LeRoy Vander Galien (Rochelle) of Deerfield, WI, Marcia Cupery (Jeff) of Friesland, WI and Nancy Brouwer (Ivan) of Caledonia, MI; her grandchildren, Ben Cupery (Stacy Garner), Jessica Brouwer (Kris Pauloski), Ethan Brouwer (Chloe) and Shawn Brouwer (Sarah); her great grandchildren, Maeve and Melanie; her sister Carol Moat of Oregon, WI; and her siblings-in-law, Dorothy Blok of Oostburg and Sebert Kooima of Sioux Falls. She is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial fund had been established in Evelyn's name for various organizations.
