He is survived by: his wife Jean Babcock; his siblings-in-law, Mark Theisen and Lilah Hammond; his nephews, Eric Hammond (Dawn), Ross Hammond (Tammy) and Jason Hammond (Cathy); his grandchildren, Taylor Hammond, Dillon Hammond, Megan Dickman (Kameron), Gunner Hammond, Sophia Hammond and Ethan Hammond; his stepgrandchildren, Johanna Hudson, Emily Banie, Patricia Bass, Zach Bass and Amber Bass; his great grandchildren, Aurora, Henry, Eloise, Connor and Anna; and his goddaughter Shelly Harvey.
The family is grateful that Doug's wish of donating his body to a teaching university is being fulfilled at the University of Wisconsin.
