He was predeceased by: his parents, Ogden Olson and Alice Olson (Cumber); his daughter Melissa Olson; and his sister Kathy Patterson. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Verstegen; his children, Jon Olson, Chris Olson (Stacy), Michelle Paustian (Greg), Kim Van Thiel (Matt), Colleen Van Zeeland (Roy), Keith Verstegen (Pam), Kevin Verstegen (Wendy) and Jessie Pelischek (Garret); his grandchildren, Nikki, Jamie Olson, Anthony, Nicholas, Joshua Paustian, Matthew Van Thiel (Deanna), Kyra Glodoski (Andrew), Madeline Van Thiel, Roy Jr. Van Zeeland (Hannah), Mason, Sondra, Joe, Isaac Van Zeeland, Ben Verstegen (Beckie), Keaton, Trent, Lily, Morgan Verstegen, Ashton, River, Skye Verstegen, Sam, Jacob and Daniel Pelischek; his great grandchildren, Emma, Addie, Caleb, Callie, Annabelle, Max, Ezra, Ava, Jaclyn, Lauren and Brielle; his stepfather Ernest Fredrickson; and his siblings, Bob Olson, Harold Olson (Helen) and Sherry Kruckeberg (Jerry). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name.
