Brenda Boie Trier Obituary

Brenda (Annette) Boie Trier was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, on October 3, 1957, the third child of John and Mary Anne (Lukas) Boie. She passed into Eternal Life with her Lord while at St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee on Sunday, February 2, 2025, surrounded by family, eleven years after a severe stroke and then a long battle with lung cancer.

Brenda grew up in Waukesha, the "middle" child of five kids, whose father was a high school principal and whose mother was a registered nurse. She attended Whittier Grade School and Waukesha Central and South High Schools, graduating in 1975. She was a gifted vocalist; she was part of Madrigal Singers, performed a major role in her high school production of "The King and I", and was chosen to be in the State Choral Union. Her family was very involved at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed, attending Sunday school and choir. After high school, Brenda went on to study Music and Interior Design at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1979.

She met and fell in love with Edward H. "Tadd" Trier III in Madison, and they were married by Pastor Stuart Briscoe at Elmbrook Church, Brookfield, Wisconsin, on April 17, 1982. They shared a love of golf, nice cars, music, and fun with friends. Tadd and Brenda lived and worked in Madison and Oregon, Wisconsin, until Tadd got an accounting job in the Milwaukee area. Brenda worked framing art for Art Line, Ltd. in Brookfield for several years. She then took a job with Kimball International selling office furnishings and became a top salesperson. After moving from Menomonee Falls to River Hills, she started her own business, Trier Design. Her work included commissioning and choosing art and facilitating art installations for various companies, which she thoroughly enjoyed doing. Eventually her primary client was R. W. Baird, for whom she chose art for many of its offices across the US, right up until her death, out of her home office. She was a determined and skilled career-woman. Brenda had exquisite taste and an incredible eye for art of all kinds.

Brenda loved to laugh! She had a great sense of humor, and that laugh is perhaps what many who knew her will miss most. From the time she was little, she had strong opinions and was not afraid to share them. She was very athletic and competitive, and enjoyed beating her husband and brothers at golf. She loved shopping for clothes and jewelry and having her nails done, and was always "classy" in her style. Brenda appreciated people who were kind and fun to be with. She loved beauty, nature, birds, and especially DOGS!! Several black labradors were blessed to be "her beloved children": Dallas, Stella, Caiden, and most recently, a yellow lab Murphy. Perhaps as much as her dogs, she adored music; she had many favorite singers, and their music nourished her soul and spirit deeply.

Especially in the last few decades, Brenda pursued knowing about the Bible more and trying to be close to her Savior, Jesus Christ. She really looked forward to being with Him in Heaven for Eternity. She and Tadd were faithful members of Fox Point Lutheran Church, and Brenda loved her Pastor, Bruce Cheever. She enjoyed shopping for winter clothing for under-resourced children in Milwaukee and giving toward a mission project her church had to a school in Tanzania.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband Edward "Tadd" Trier, her father John Elywn Boie, and her sister Janet Ellen Anderson. She is survived by her mother, Mary Anne Boie; her siblings Amy Thompson (Craig), David Boie (Crystal), Eric "ETB" Boie (Jennifer); brother-in-law Jim Anderson; nieces and nephews Laura, Anneliese, Jonathan, Michael, Elizabeth, Scott, John, Taylor, Carly, Brooks, Brady, Madeline, Brett (and all of their spouses/families, including three special great-nieces Eva, Brooklyn, and Louisa Schulz); her Aunts Joyce Boie and Cindy Lukas; and many cousins in both the Boie and Lukas families. She is also survived by her husband Tadd's siblings Tim (Dee) Trier, Terry (Lupe) Trier, Tom (Vernon) Trier, and Katie Trier Critz; and many colleagues and friends.

The family would like to thank the many healthcare workers and helpers who made it possible for Brenda to recover a great deal after her stroke. Several family members and friends helped in multiple practical ways to make it possible for her to continue to live in her own home. The skill and kindness of the St. Mary's medical staff made her last few days as comfortable and peaceful as possible.

A Celebration of Brenda's life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Fox Point Lutheran Church, 7510 N. Santa Monica Boulevard, Fox Point, Wisconsin. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am, with a Memorial Service starting at 11:30am. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a luncheon reception at Shully's A.T.S. (Across the Street), 146 Green Bay Road, Thiensville, Wisconsin, for time to visit with one another between 1:00 and 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Brenda would prefer donations to one of her favorite charities: World Vision, the Wisconsin Humane Society, Fox Point Lutheran Church's mission work in Tanzania, or SABA International (for the New Dawn School in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya).
