He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Howerton; his children, Donnie Howerton and Janice Williams; his daughter-in-law Kathy Howerton; his parents, Clyde Howerton and Junie Howerton; and his siblings, Virgil, Earl Howerton and JoAnn Howerton.

He is survived by: his son Tim Howerton (Sue); his siblings, Jay Howerton (Robetta) and Dolly Huskey; his son-in-law Richard Williams; his grandchildren, Josh Howerton (Rebecca), Jennifer McDonald (Robert), Tiffany Howerton and Brandy Howerton; and his great grandchildren, Liam McDonald, Audrey McDonald, Joshua Howerton, Madelynn Howerton and Aviah Howerton.
