It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Robert E. Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, who passed away on February 22, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Schmitz and Gladys Schmitz (Dame); his mother-in-law Margaret Caird; his daughter Mary Schmitz; and his brothers-in-law, Larry Caird (Sue) and Wally Olson.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Caird; his children, Roxane Kelley (Kevin), Shelley Flesch (Steve), Scott Schmitz (Renee) and Stephanie Eisner (Shawn); his grandchildren, Meghan Schmitz (Eric), Kim Kelley (Scott Preimesberger), Taylor Flesch, Peyton Flesch, Jacob Schmitz, Benjamin Schmitz, Ally Schmitz, Eden Eisner and Margaret Eisner; his great grandchildren, Harper and Hayden Schmitz; his siblings, Richard Schmitz (Judy) and Helen Olson; and also Luann Hettenhaus. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the St. Mary's Church (59 E Merrill Ave, Fond du Lac, WI 54935). A Mass will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
