He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Cardinal and Leonard Cardinal (Fenner); his brothers, David Cardinal (Bea) and John Cardinal; his grandson Michael; and his former wife Joyce Blare.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Hansel; his children, Mark Cardinal (Carol), Deborah Olsen (Neil), Kurt Cardinal and Todd Cardinal (Jenni); and his grandchildren, Christopher, Caitlin, Cody, Kristopher, Britney, Matti and Mitchell. He is also survived by great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
