He is survived by: his children, Lance Gantner (Nancy), Jay Gantner (Lisa), Jill Scheberl (Todd) and Craig Gantner; his grandchildren, Gavin, Bret (Randi), Shelby (Brandon), Bo, Laina (Zach) and Bree (Derek); his great grandchildren, Colin, Owen, Karson, Ashton, Brinley, Bradee, Jaelyn, Celia, Cameron, Eli and Cooper; his brother Dick Gantner (Caren); and his in-laws, Carol Salter, Bill Grahl (Karen) and Gary Grahl (Janice). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Melvin's name can be made to St. Jude or by planting a tree.
