He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Brandt and Mervin Brandt; and his brother Peter. He is survived by: his wife Susan Brandt (Hamler); his daughter Allison; and his siblings, Dennis, Francis (Mary Ann), Paul, Joseph (Ginny Manning), Genevieve Kirchman, Mary Beth Brandt (Meng Kong Tham) and Philomena Sucharda. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
