He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles William and Winifred Witzig (Millard); his daughter Betty Lou Cauffman; his son-in-law George Cauffman; his siblings, Zoe Novak (John), Olga "Henrietta" Smith (Dallas), Joseph Witzig (Virginia), Winifred "Janice" Austin (Orville), Charles "Babe" Witzig (Betty), Ned Everett Witzig, Paul Witzig (Ruth) and Marion Fehrman (Carroll); and also Dean Gieseman.

He is survived by: his former wife Helen Bock; his wife Marcia Smith; his children, Tyrone Witzig (Karla) of Fennimore and Gina Campbell (Mike) of Spring Green; his grandchildren, Todd Cauffman (Caroline), Tara Grob, Ned Witzig (Danielle), Tish Burmeister (Korey) and Nick Witzig (Jackie); his great grandchildren, Quentin, Lillie Cauffman, Bianca, Daniel Witzig, Brady, Lindsay Burmeister, Talyn, Hayvn Witzig, Vaughn and Alyssa Grob; his stepgreat-grandson Layne Henderix; his close friend Janet Gieseman; and also, Daniel Gieseman (Oksana) of Ames, IA, Jody Williams (Sean) of Cedar Falls, IA, Lisa Bergfeld (Wayne) of Bernard, IA and Julie Gieseman of Clive, IA..
