He is survived by: his wife Tonya of Albany; his son Jonathan Matthews of Rockford; his father Ernest Matthews Jr.; his stepchildren, Shannon Chavez, Annie Compton and Ricky Jowers; his sisters, Lori Kemp, Judi Cudney and Kathryn Smith; and his pet Annie. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren.
