He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Fugate and Agnes Fugate (Gourley); his stepfather Leo Wilke; his son Jeffery "Gator" Fugate; his siblings, Robert Fugate and Jackie Carson; his stepbrother Rollie Wilke; his sister-in-law Jerry Saunders; and also Rod Nelson (Beverly).
He is survived by: his wife Shirley of Adams Friendship, WI; his children, Jay Fugate (Laurie) of Albany, WI and Jan Olson (Ben) of Rockton, IL; his grandchildren, Josh Fugate (Sarah) of Brooklyn, WI and Kollin Olson of Rockton, IL; his great grandchildren, Carson Fugate, Riley Fugate and Lily Fugate; and his sister-in-law Joann Saunders of Beloit, WI. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
