He was predeceased by: his parents, John Almond and Anna Marie Almond (Strandlie); and his sister Jean Gjermo. He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Ann Jackson; his son John D. Almond (Carla); his stepchildren, Larry Fesenfeld, Laurie Muchow, Leora Gunn and Laverne Jackson; his grandchildren, Aspen Almond (Mario), Tarin Tyson (Brianna), Draven Cooper, Adreanna White (Carson), Brielle Fesenfeld, Jessalyn Fesenfeld, Christa Muchow, Alec Muchow, Hannah Wellnitz (Phil) and Lucas Gunn (Emily); his great grandchildren, Noelle, Liam, Philip and Winston; and his brother Ron Almond (Barb).
